Welcome to Camp Avenue School!
Camp Avenue Elementary School, built in 1923 with two subsequent expansions, is celebrating its ninety-third birthday. It is the three story "grand dame" of the North Merrick school community. All of us are proud of our students' successes, both academically and socially. Our philosophy of being kind, caring, and helpful to everyone, is augmented by the importance of children learning to always include others.
Many exciting events are scheduled to take place during the fall season, including:
- Virtual Back to School Night
- Back to School Picnic
- Parent Teacher Conferences
- Halloween Parade and Fall Festival
- Fall Book Fair
- Cultural Arts Assemblies
This year we are excited to bring back many great traditions as well as creative new activities to introduce to our students. Some of our curriculum-based field trips have returned including our Second Grade Field Trip at the beach to collect marine life for their marine biology unit. Many of our cultural arts programs are able to take place outside rather than virtual. Classes are enjoying using our various outdoor spaces to learn, read, and have snack. Hands on science experiments, STEAM activities, and wonderful digital learning activities are taking place all around the building. What an exciting year this will be!
