- Have your child search for items in the supermarket.
- Read anything in the newspaper...even the comics and advertisements.
-
Make a print-rich environment...Label everything in your house from the kitchen clock to the bathroom sink using index cards or sentence strips.
Sweet Dreams
Reading to your child every day, or night is critical in your child's reading development. Make reading a part of your nightly routine. Make it fun by changing the method each night:
- Read the story to your child.
- Have your child read the story to you.
- Alternate pages...you read a page, child reads a page.
- Have your child be a word detective...they can locate familiar words and/or sight words within the text.
